Price Is Right Baby Edition
Introduction
Babies are cute. Babies are squishy. Babies are also... surprisingly expensive.
Welcome to the baby shower version of Price Is Right where guests try to guess the cost of random baby products. And no, having kids doesn’t necessarily give you an advantage. Half the time even parents are like, ‘Wait, a baby wipe warmer costs *how much*?’
This game’s part shopping spree, part reality check, and 100% good for a few laughs and some wild guesses.
What You’ll Need
- A list (or a display) of 6–10 baby-related items diapers, pacifiers, wipes, bottle warmers, etc.
- Current prices for each item (grab them from your local store or an online shop).
- Printed cards or a scoreboard for guests to write down their guesses.
- Pens, clipboards, or whatever makes it easy to write without using someone’s back as a table.
- Optional: actual baby items on a table to display. Adds a nice touch if you’re feeling fancy.
How to Play
- Show the guests each baby item (or just announce the name if you’re going low-effort). Let them look at it, maybe pick it up if it’s not too weird (nobody needs to pass around a breast pump, let’s be real).
- Everyone writes down what they think that item costs down to the cents if they want to be extra.
- Once all guesses are in, reveal the actual price. Closest guess without going over gets a point. If you’re not a stickler, just go with ‘closest overall.’
- Repeat for all items. You can do this fast or draw it out, depending on how rowdy your crowd is.
- At the end, the guest with the most points wins a small prize, like a mini bottle of wine, a candle, or eternal bragging rights.
Fun Variations
Price Is Totally Wrong: Throw in one ridiculous fake item (like a Gucci pacifier) and see who falls for it.
Speed Round: Give people only 10 seconds per item to guess. Cue the panic and scribbling.
Baby Registry Edition: Use actual items from the parents-to-be’s registry. Bonus: it subtly reminds people to shop for gifts.
The Dollar Store Challenge: Include one item that’s way cheaper than anyone expects. The surprise always lands.
QR Code Twist: Show a QR code and have guests scan it to reveal a picture of the item but no brand names allowed.
Why Guests Love It
- It’s low-key competitive without making people stand up or act anything out.
- You get real-time reactions like, 'Wait, those tiny socks are $14?!' which are priceless.
- It gets everyone talking especially when people start justifying their wild guesses.
- Even guests who claim they hate games end up getting into it by round three.
- Plus, it’s oddly satisfying to realize you might survive parenting on a budget (or not).
Conclusion
Price Is Right: Baby Edition is simple to run, always funny, and works with any kind of crowd from grandma to the cool cousin who just came for the cake.
You’ll get a few gasps, a few eye-rolls, and probably a lot of ‘I had no idea baby lotion cost that much’ moments.
Whether you play it casually or go full-on game show mode, it’s a fun way to break the ice and give everyone something to laugh (or stress) about.
