Pregnancy Myths Buster
Introduction
Everyone’s got something to say when someone’s pregnant and half of it sounds like it came from a grandma’s friend’s neighbor back in 1962.
This game takes those random pregnancy claims the weird, the sweet, and the totally wrong and puts them to the test. Is it true you can predict the baby’s gender based on how you’re carrying? Does spicy food really trigger labor? We’re about to find out.
Guests guess if each one is true or totally made up. And in the process, you’ll probably learn a thing or two (or at least laugh at how confidently wrong some myths are).
What You’ll Need
- A printed or digital list of pregnancy myths mix in a little truth and a lot of nonsense
- Answer sheets or plain paper and pens for guests
- An answer key with quick explanations for each myth
- Optional: someone to read the myths out loud with a bit of sass
- Optional: a small prize for whoever gets the most right
How to Play
- Before the shower, make a list of pregnancy ‘facts.’ Mix in some real ones and some straight-up myths stuff like, 'Heartburn means your baby will have lots of hair' or 'You shouldn’t raise your arms above your head during pregnancy.'
- At the party, read each one out loud or hand out a quiz sheet. Guests write down 'True' or 'False' for each.
- Once everyone’s done, go back through the list, sharing the correct answers and a short explanation for each one this is where the laughs usually happen.
- The person with the most right answers wins. Or just crown whoever had the best fake logic for why something *should* be true.
Fun Variations
Let the parents-to-be guess first, then ask the group see how their answers compare
Make it a 'Guess Who Said That' edition with real quotes from family members or friends
Include a lightning round with super rapid-fire true/false questions
Create a visual slideshow with silly graphics or photos to go along with the myths
Ask guests to vote on the most ridiculous myth of the bunch some of them really deserve a trophy
Why Guests Love It
- It’s funny without being too serious perfect baby shower energy
- People get to roll their eyes at all the random advice they’ve heard or shared themselves
- Even folks who’ve never been pregnant have probably heard some of these myths
- It sparks real conversations you’ll hear a lot of ‘Wait, my aunt SWEARS that’s true’
Conclusion
Pregnancy Myths Buster is the kind of game that keeps things real and a little ridiculous which makes it perfect for a baby shower.
It gives everyone a laugh, clears up some weird misconceptions, and proves that just because something’s been said a thousand times doesn’t mean it’s true. (Looking at you, 'carrying high means it’s a girl.')
Whether you’re busting myths or accidentally believing them, it’s a great way to spend a few fun minutes celebrating the chaos of parenthood before it even starts.
