What you'll need

• Printed image quiz on cardstock, one per guest (Staples color print, around $1.50 per sheet)
• A 12-pack of pens from Target
• A printed master answer key on a clipboard
• A small basket to collect filled sheets
• One named prize for the highest score
• Optional: a small consolation prize for the most-obscure-right tiebreaker

Before the shower (setup)

1. Build the image list about a week before the baby shower. You want 15 TV baby characters mixed across decades: 5 iconic (Maggie Simpson, Stewie Griffin, Tommy Pickles from Rugrats, Michelle Tanner from Full House, Boss Baby), 5 medium (Emma Bing from Friends, Lily Aldrin's baby from How I Met Your Mother, Bobby Hill from King of the Hill as a toddler, the baby from Bluey, Carl from Family Guy's reboot), and 5 deep cuts (the Brady Bunch baby from the 70s, Cousin Oliver, the baby from Murphy Brown, Rugrats All Grown Up babies, Sesame Street's Elmo's World friends). Without the deep cuts, the round wraps in three minutes.
2. Crop each character image so the face and signature features are clearly visible — no background context that gives away the show. Open Canva or a Google Doc, lay out a 3×5 grid with each image numbered 1–15, with two answer fields next to each (name + show). Print one quiz per guest in color at Staples — about $1.50 per sheet. Print a separate master answer key for yourself with the correct character and show name next to each number. Tag the year next to each character on your master key — "#3: Maggie Simpson, The Simpsons (1989)" — so you can casually drop the decade if guests get stuck.
3. Twenty minutes before the baby shower starts, stack the quizzes and pens on a side table. Keep your answer key clipboard ready in your hand. Skip this baby shower game entirely if your guest list is heavy on people who don't watch TV — they'll blank on every single one. Brief the mom-to-be that she can play if she's a sitcom fan. • Decade rounds. Group the 15 images by decade — three from the 70s/80s, three from the 90s, three from the 2000s, three from the 2010s, three from the 2020s. Older relatives win the older rounds; younger guests win the newer. Way more fair across multi-generation guest lists.
• Zoom version. Build a Google Slides deck with one image per slide, share screen during the Zoom call, and have guests type their guesses into the chat for each slide. The host tallies after each one or at the end. Works as well as the in-person version for long-distance baby showers.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Loading the quiz with only modern characters. Anyone over 50 is out of the game by image three. Mix decades carefully.
• Picking images that are too cropped or too generic. The cropped baby in profile from far away doesn't give enough cues. Use clear close-ups of the character's face.
• Skipping the year tags on the master key. When a guest gets stuck, dropping the decade is a fair nudge — but you can't do that if you don't know the year yourself.
• Reading the answer key by scrolling your phone. Phone-scroll pacing kills the reveal energy. Print the key, clipboard, done.
• Running this round for a guest list of non-TV watchers. They'll blank on every image and the round wraps with everyone scoring zero — embarrassing for the host.
